My First 1,000 Words – Flashcards and Games by Alligator Apps – A must have starter app (FREE for now)

My First 1,000 Words – This is a wonderful starter app and a must have app for starter ABA.  It has so many pictues categorized and you can even customize and add your own. Even if your kid is outgrown from first words, this will serve as a maintenance drill app.

PLAY-DOH Play-Dates – Very good for following directions

PLAY-DOH Play-Dates – This app is excellent for following directions. Basically it gives step-by-step directions to make some of the objects using Play-doh.  They had this on their website for a while and they packaged it in to an app.  We used to print them and use it. So, having it on iPhone/iPad makes it easier and saves some paper.

PCS™ Apps – Nice, Clean FREE PCS pic apps from a trusted source you already know

Initial impression

The apps are very well done and they all have PCS symbols that lot of kids  know already.  These are full fledged apps with some sample categories. If you want to expand the symbol library you can buy using the in-app purchases.  The apps can be used as soon as you download. No additioanl purches necessary until you want to add additional features.

Technology in Education – Recommended Apps by IEP Goals/Skills and some useful tools

Apps by Goal – Our guiding priciple is “Bang for the Buck’. No matter what the cost of the app as long as it provides value for the money we are happy include them here. So far we downloaded over 800 Educational apps and went thru almost all of them. This is a result of all the hard work over the past 6 months.

All the apps listed are reviewed by us and are confident they provide ‘Bang for the Buck’. There are many more apps that may meet this criteria but we haven’t reviewed them. As you can see some of the apps cover more than one Goal/Skill. Make sure you pick the one that covers more than one skill. We will be publishing Goals by App (What goals each app covers) to give you help you determine which apps to buy. Almost 50% of the apps listed are FREE so there is no need to think, just download them to your computer and sync to your device when you need them. Don’t under estimate these FREE apps. Some of them are as good as their paid counterparts.
