Splash Math (2nd & 3rd Grade) – Wonderful Math interactive workbooks that uses manipulatives to teach math concepts (Discounted)

Splash Math - 2nd grade summer math workbook HD
Splash Math (2nd & 3rd Grade) – These are not just workbooks but are interactive tools with manipulatives within the app. App is highly interactive. Children drag and drop shapes, pop bubbles, rotate clock hands and more to solve problems.  For example, app allows students to learn the time by moving the clock which you can’t do with a regular workbooks either physical or electronic.  This allows teacher/parent to teach them as close to natural environment without physically purchasing/storing these manipulatives.  The user interface is simple and clear with lots of pictures.

Reinforcers are already included in the app (ofcourse I would ask the kid to play outside instead of electronic reinforcers but it is motivating to have something right there).
The best part is tracking. You can track your kids/students progress. Especially to understand what their strengths and weakness are.
Developer tell me “Splash math’s algorithm tries to gauge quickly the current level of the kid and takes him through levels in an adaptive fashion.” I haven’t been able to test it.  Will give an update.

  • An overwrite for the parent/teacher to let the kids move to the next level instead of automated promotion by the app. Parents/teachers know their kids better than the app :-). Typically this was achieved by giving an admin passcode for the app so kids doesn’t chagne but only adults can do the override if necessary.
  • Hopefully problems are randomized (couldn’t test it) and auto generated so they are fresh and kid doesn’t remember the sequence and complete them.
Overall Impression – Solid app for the grade level that meets the Standards for that grade.  Love the interactivity and tracking.
