Technology in Education – Recommended Apps by IEP Goals/Skills and some useful tools

Apps by Goal – Our guiding priciple is “Bang for the Buck’. No matter what the cost of the app as long as it provides value for the money we are happy include them here. So far we downloaded over 800 Educational apps and went thru almost all of them. This is a result of all the hard work over the past 6 months.

All the apps listed are reviewed by us and are confident they provide ‘Bang for the Buck’. There are many more apps that may meet this criteria but we haven’t reviewed them. As you can see some of the apps cover more than one Goal/Skill. Make sure you pick the one that covers more than one skill. We will be publishing Goals by App (What goals each app covers) to give you help you determine which apps to buy. Almost 50% of the apps listed are FREE so there is no need to think, just download them to your computer and sync to your device when you need them. Don’t under estimate these FREE apps. Some of them are as good as their paid counterparts.

Note to Developers: If you think your app provides “Bang for the Buck” and would like to be listed here, please contact us using Contact us page on our website.

How about Dr. Brown’s DTT apps for numbers, shapes, colors and letters? Good for ABA, and you get data as well. So many apps! This is a great list.

Thanks for including Sōsh™ as a recommendation to help kids with social skills!

I really like this! I also have a categorized list, but its for our whole school K-3 so it’s not broken down quite so specifically. Here’s the link to the public Google Doc-

      Morgan, Love the list.
We need to chat sometime to get in sync with some of these apps.

Looking forward to sharing this. As the long list of apps on the App Store grows even longer, having recommendations like these from someone we trust is invaluable!

Visual tracking is another possibility. Swirlicity Lite by Sad Cat Software is a great free app. Not just for visual tracking but for relaxation too. Has calming and soothing music to accompany activity. Definitely Bang for the Buck. Fireworks 123 also nice little app and simple for young children. Again free

This list is great! This will be a nice reference when looking for specific skills. Feel free to use apps I have listed in the LiveBinder I created. They are listed by skills as well, but not quite as specific as your list. The link to the LiveBinder is on the App info page of my blog.

I would agree with Caroline T. (above) regarding visual tracking or visual stimulating apps.

Dexteria would be a great app to add for fine motor skills. I noticed that a lot of these apps have have bad ratings…but love that many of them are free!! Thanks for giving us a great comprehensive list!

Dexteria is already listed. I reviewed all the apps and if there are issues, please let me know. I would like to pull them out.
