Lil’ Kitten Shopping Cart Game – Wonderful app to teach life skills

Lil’ Kitten Shopping Cart Game –I have been looking for this type of app for a while.  The developer advertised this for little ones but this is a great app for older special ed kids who are learning life skills in middle school or in upper grades. This app gives them a shopping list that he kid need to use to buy the items at the lowest price. The setting is pretty close to the real world super market with the isles marked by category along with special deals isle.  You will drag and drop the items to the cart.

IEP Goals/Skills Covered: Money, Life Skills, Shopping

Reward: If they buy some of the items on sale they can use the rest of the money to buy toys.

If you have amoney/shopping goals in your IEP this is the app for you.

Issues: If you accidentally add an item you can’t drag and drop out of the cart. You have to wait until the checkout.

Thanks to PODD corp for developing this great app.

Tip: Take a piece of paper and write down the list if the kid is having trouble switching back and forth between the shopping list and moving across isles.

Thank you for the wonderful review. Please note that you can take things out of your cart by dragging them out of the bar at the top of the screen however I agree that it would be best to drag them from the cart when you wish to. I know I tend to be an impulsive shopper myself and have frequently bought more than I need or maybe not the best value. 🙂

We will be making updates and changes to the app in response to all the wonderful feedback we receive. Please look forward to additional games that educate, enlighten and delight from PODD Media.

Thank you for your review. Just a response to your Tip “Take a piece of paper and write down the list if the kid is having trouble switching back and forth between the shopping list and moving across isles.”. Another alternative, is by using the check box found beside each item in the shopping list. You just need to tick the box to mark the item you’ve dragged in the cart. This is one way of tracking what item/s you’ve gotten already. The shopping list can be accessed while in a specific isle or in the main isle.

    Thank you.

      Lindo,
I have been using this app. I am aware of it. But this is for special needs kids with difficulty in managing. But here are couple of more requests.
      1. can you close the checklist if the user clicks on an area outside teh checklist so they don’t have to close it manually.
      2. Show icons for the items (ex:eggs picture for eggs) so kids who can’t read can still do this.
      3. Make it complex by adding # of items to get (if it not already there).
      4. Allow parents/teachers to unlcok the levels if they choose to.
      5. Add ability to manage multiple students.
