TapToTalk – AAC Software for almost all types of devices

TapToTalk

TapToTalk –
Good for non-verbal kids. Pretty useful if the kid is going out and if you don’t want to carry the PECS book or bulky AAC device. You can checkout this app online and see if it fits. This may complement the AAC you already have such as dynovox or Vantage as the mobile phones/devices are much more easier to take than the AAC devices. The best part about this application is that it is avaialble pretty much in all platforms so you can have it on Mom’s iPhone and Dad’s Android or even kids Nintendo DS.

Wish List:
The trail version doesn’t have any customization allowed. It may be helpful for the parents to test these out before they spend $99 on this.
May be they can sell a light version for a fee so parents can use it as mid level AAC device that is going to help special needs kids/adults when they go outside.

App Description from the developer

Give your non-verbal child a voice!

TapToTalk turns an iPhone™, iPad™ or iPod touch® into an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) device. TapToTalk makes communication fun, like another “game” on this cool device. Just tap a picture and TapToTalk speaks. Each picture can lead to another screen of pictures.

This free TapToTalk™ app comes with a fully functional album that you can use with your child. If you want to create albums that are individualized to meet the specific needs of your child, visit the TapToTalk web site (www.taptotalk.com).

You’ll learn about TapToTalk Designer, the online subscription service that you use to create your own AAC albums for your child. TapToTalk Designer includes a library of over 2,000 pictures. You can add your own pictures, photos and sounds. You can even record your own voice. Albums created in TapToTalk Designer are “synced” over the Internet directly to your iPhone™, iPad™ or iPod touch®.
